The AI4HealthOutcomes symposium at the Ochsner Academic Center in New Orleans was a huge success. The event was co-organized by Dr. Raju Gottumukkala, Dr. Nick Duesbery, Dr. Jason Hill, and Dr. Gabriela Wilson.

This year's symposium focused on "Trust & Workforce in AI." This event marks a significant milestone as we plan for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Center for Accessible Healthcare through AI-Augmented Center (AHeAD), a collaborative effort among UL Lafayette, Tulane University, the University of Florida, Georgia Tech, and over 50 healthcare organizations.

Ashish Atreja, MD, MPH, from UC Davis Health and VALIDAI, gave a truly impactful keynote address titled "Closing the Last Mile Gap in Healthcare: The Role of an AI Center of Excellence." His keynote touched on several key points: interdisciplinary collaboration, the shifting care trends with AI, gaps in the healthcare industry, and building successful industry-academic partnerships.

The trustworthy panel, moderated by Scott Simone from Ochsner IO, brought diverse perspectives from both early adopters and thought leaders on how they are thinking about and approaching the robustness of AI systems. Discussions covered issues such as monitoring and testing health systems for clinical practice, co-design and stakeholder engagement, fostering a culture of trust, and best governance practices.

The workforce panel, moderated by Gabriela Wilson from UL Lafayette, brought great insights on the changing nature of workforce requirements and approaches to designing effective training programs. The discussion encompassed a broad range of topics, including curriculum redesign, implementation science, end-user focus, bridging skill gaps, and forming partnerships for impact.

The fireside chat explored AI implementation from various perspectives with Ashish Atreja, MD, MPH, Mr. Will Landry, and Ms. Jocelyn Campbell. They discussed organizational barriers to innovation, regulatory hurdles, and the evolving federal landscape for AI, as well as building successful industry partnerships.

We're thrilled that the AI4HealthOutcomes symposium was a sold-out event, demonstrating the immense interest in advancing healthcare through the use of AI. For those who were unable to attend, materials from the symposium will be made available soon. Stay tuned for updates! For more information about NSF AHeAD, please contact raju@louisiana.edu.
